What?
WordCamp UK is the annual conference for WordPress publishers, designers and developers based in the United Kingdom.
WordPress is a state-of-the-art web publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability.
Attendees include some of the leading developers and users of WordPress in the UK, including graphic designers, digital content creators and bloggers.
WordCamp UK combines informal presentations with debate and discussion on the latest developments in the global WordPress community.
When?
WordCamp UK is to be held on the weekend of 18-19 July 2009.
Where?
The second WordCamp UK takes place in Cardiff, the capital and largest city of Wales.
The venue is the Future Inn Cardiff Bay, situated near the city centre and minutes away from the dining and entertainment centre of Cardiff Bay's waterfront Mermaid Quay.
The Wales Millennium Centre, the Welsh National Assembly, Cardiff County Hall, the Millennium Stadium and the main business community are all within a mile of the hotel.
Cardiff is well connected by rail, road and air, with the venue 12 miles away from Cardiff Airport.
The Future Inn Cardiff Bay conference facilities include wifi access and exceptional meeting room facilities.
Recognising UK WordPress Development
WordCamp UK will host the second Humphrey Awards, designed to recognise the UK WordPress community’s favourite blog, WordPress plugin and digital content.

WordCamp UK 2009 sees the UK’s WordPress developer community move from committed proponent of the open source web application movement to integral part of the UK’s digital industry.
Who uses WordPress?
WordPress is used by a growing number of high profile organisations. WordPress currently powers websites owned by The Financial Times, Reuters, CNN, Wall Street Journal and Yahoo!
In 2008 the prime minister’s website at Number10.gov.uk was launched on the WordPress platform.
Not content to provide a comprehensive web publishing software platform, WordPress also provides a free, blog hosting service at WordPress.com which draws roughly 100 million unique monthly visitors and is among the top 25 global sites, according to research firm Comscore.
Event Sponsorship
There are two levels of sponsorship available for WordCamp UK 2009 - private and corporate.
Sponsoring WordCamp UK puts your organisation in front some of the most tech-savvy web professionals in the UK in an informal and relaxed environment.
Private, microsponsor packages start at £70, for individuals or groups who wish to contribute funds to the second WordCamp UK event.
Publicity is optional for private sponsors who wish to support the event without receiving marketing.
Corporate sponsorship normally starts at £500.
Corporate marketing options include:
- Distribution of publicity material to all WordCamp UK delegates.
- Corporate logo displayed at the event
- High visibility areas for your free-standing banners/pull-ups/posters (to be supplied by sponsor).
- Corporate logo and links for 12 months on the following WordCamp UK sites:
